A set of resin landing gear wheels from the Brassin line by the Czech manufacturer Eduard for the model of the fighter P-38 Lightning in the F and G versions in 1:48 scale. The resin castings bring what plastic kit parts usually lack: a sharply drawn tread pattern, faithful hubs and clean detail of the brake areas. Replacing the wheels ranks among the simplest resin modifications of all - and the effect is visible at first glance, because the landing gear of the Lightning is tall and clearly visible.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter of twin-boom layout, one of the few with retractable nose landing gear as early as the beginning of the Second World War. The F and G versions of 1942-1943 fought over North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Pacific. The massive main wheels and the characteristic nose wheel are prominent features on a model.
Wash the mold release agent off the castings, cut the casting blocks off at the point where they meet the tread of the wheel and sand the joint lightly. Fit the wheels onto the kit landing gear legs with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the hubs separately and the tires in a shade of dark rubber; a fine application of dust pigments will give a used look.
