An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Bell P-39Q Airacobra fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The model captures precisely the unconventional layout of the aircraft with the engine behind the pilot and a nose landing gear. The moldings stand out for fine engraved texture and a well made cockpit, typical of Eduard's production.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an American fighter of the Second World War with an arrangement unusual for its time - the Allison engine sat behind the cockpit and drove the propeller through a shaft, which freed the nose for a heavy 37 mm cannon. The P-39Q version was the most numerous production variant. Airacobras made a strong mark in the Soviet Air Force, where they went under Lend-Lease deliveries.
Glue the plastic parts with thin cement for plastic. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage. Because of the layout with the engine at the rear, remember to weight the nose sufficiently so that the model stands on its nose gear. For a faithful look use a primer, an airbrush and gentle washes to bring out the panels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
