A photo-etched set of parts for a model of the Curtiss P-40B fighter in 1:48 scale. An accessory to a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss P-40B is an early production form of the American single-seat P-40 fighter. Machines of this family served from the start of the Second World War on several fronts and in the colors of more than one operator, so a model offers a varied choice of finishes and markings.
Photo-etched parts for a P-40B model in 1:48 scale. They are supplied on a fret from which the individual parts are separated. Etched sheet is thin, and so it captures grilles, levers and other small shapes more faithfully than injection-molded plastic. What exactly the set contains, where the parts belong and whether parts of the kit have to be altered are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Leave the fret in one piece and separate the parts only at the moment you are going to fit them, otherwise they get lost easily. Cut with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tab with a fine file. Make the bends over a straight edge or in a photo-etch bending tool. They are glued with super glue in a tiny amount; the excess fills in exactly the details you are buying photo-etch for. Degrease the parts before painting and lay down an undercoat suitable for metal.
For a builder who wants to play with detail and already holds tweezers, a sharp blade and patience. A beginner will do well to start with the larger parts of the set and leave the small items until last.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
