Eduard painting masks for a model of the Curtiss P-40N in 1:48 scale, the manufacturer's part number EX144.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut painting masks for a model of the American Curtiss P-40N fighter. Working with them is simple: lift the mask off the backing, lay it in place and press it down. The shape is already finished, so there is no need to handle a blade over the model.
The P-40N belongs to the late versions of the Curtiss P-40 and is the most numerous of the whole family. It came about from an effort to lighten the machine and improve the pilot's view to the rear, which is clearly visible in the silhouette of the rear fuselage. The type served with a great many Allied air forces and wore unusually varied schemes, from desert through overseas ones to the shark mouth that almost everyone associates it with.
The canopy glazing is the most exposed place on a model. A hand-painted frame tends to come out uneven, paint creeps under tape cut roughly by hand, and a blade run along the clear part leaves a scratch that can no longer be removed. A precisely cut mask removes all three problems at once.
The surface has to be clean and degreased, as a mask will not hold on grease and paint will creep under it. Press the edges down with a blunt point, working in small sections along curves. Spray the inner side of the frames with the interior shade before the outer coat. Apply the paint perpendicularly and in thin coats so that it does not get under the edge, and take the masks off while the coat has not fully cured.
The package contains painting masks. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
