Photo-etched metal parts for a model of the P-47D-25 Thunderbolt fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was an American single-seat fighter and one of the heaviest single-engine machines of the Second World War. Its rugged structure let it survive hits that would have brought a lighter fighter down, and in the second half of the war it was used mainly to attack ground targets. The D-25 production block is the first form with a bubble canopy and a cut-down fuselage spine; earlier aircraft had a solid spine and a framed canopy.
Photo-etched metal parts for a P-47D-25 model in 1:48 scale. Metal holds a thickness that injection-molded plastic cannot reach, and it carries fine texture that a mold cannot hold. The scope of the set and the placement of the parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface; scissors will bend the metal. Sand the remains of the tab down with a fine file. Bend them in one movement in a bending tool or between two blades. They are bonded with super glue applied in drops from the tip of a pin, as cement for plastic has no effect on metal. Before painting, degrease the parts and spray them with a primer, otherwise the finish will rub off the smooth metal.
For modelers who are building a bubble-canopy Thunderbolt in 1:48 scale and want to take the model beyond the level of the parts in the kit. Check in the instructions for the set whether the parts fit your particular kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
