A photo-etched set of accessories for the model of the American P-47D-25 Thunderbolt fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was among the largest and heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. Its tough build, which earned it the reputation of a machine able to bring its pilot home even after a hit, suited attacks on ground targets as well, and so the Thunderbolt served as a fighter and as a fighter-bomber at once. The D-25 production block brought a substantial change of appearance: a cut-down fuselage spine and a bubble canopy, which at last gave the pilot a view to the rear.
Photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale to fill out the model of this aircraft. Sheet tenths of a millimeter thick replaces plastic parts that have to be thicker than they should be to scale, because of the way they are made. The make-up of the parts and where they go is described in the instructions from the maker of the set.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, holding them with tweezers. Make the bends against a straight edge or in a bending tool, along the whole length at once. They are glued with super glue laid on with a pin, as cement for polystyrene has no effect on metal. Degrease the surface before painting and lay on a primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth metal.
For modelers of aircraft of the Second World War who want to take the big American fighter all the way to the detail. A kit, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
