Decals in 1:48 for a pair of Mustangs of the early version. One machine of a combat fighter group, the other of a ferry unit. A waterslide sheet without a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The subjects on this sheet are joined by their type and divided by the work they did. The first Mustang belonged to the captain of a combat fighter group which from eastern England covered raids as far as German territory. The second served with a ferry unit, that is with the people who took aircraft over not for combat but in order to deliver them where they were needed. Models of both machines side by side show a part of the war that is rarely spoken of.
A name under the cockpit and code letters, by which it could be recognized on an airfield, belong to each machine. On the combat aircraft there were also bands on the engine cowling or on the tail surface, by which units told themselves apart in flight. The sheet covers these markings including the small lettering that is often left out in modeling practice, although it is exactly that which gives the result depth.
A model of the fighter in 1:48 scale, paints and varnish do not belong with the sheet and are bought separately. The set will please above all anyone looking for a subject with a story who does not want to build yet another machine with the usual bubble canopy, of which display cases hold whole rows.
