1:48 P-51B/C Mustang, seat with integral belts, Type 3 (PRINT) from Eduard is a 3D printed seat with the belts printed right in, for the Eduard P-51B/C kit in 1:48. It is not a kit; you have to have the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A replacement pilot seat for a P-51B/C Mustang model in 1:48 scale, made by direct 3D printing in resin. It is not an aircraft kit; it is a cockpit accessory, so you have to have the model itself. The seat is the most visible feature in a Mustang cockpit, and the plastic part from the kit is coarse against this one.
The classic route is to glue etched belts onto a plastic seat, but an etch is flat metal sheet that you have to bend to make the belts look naturally draped. Here the belts are printed right in as part of the seat. That does away with gluing etched parts and, above all, the belts have real volume and a realistic drape, exactly what a flat etch can never manage. You simply take the seat out, paint it and glue it in.
The set is made for the P-51B/C kit in 1:48 scale from Eduard. On models from other brands it may not fit dimensionally. Watch the version: the P-51B/C (framed canopy, the razorback) and the P-51D (bubble canopy) are different aircraft and their cockpit parts are not interchangeable. The designation Type 3 refers to a particular form of seat, as Mustangs received seats of different types during production. Which form exactly Type 3 represents is in the manufacturer instructions or in a photograph of the machine you are building.
PRINT means the part is printed directly by 3D printing in resin, neither cast nor injection molded. That allows thin walls, sharp edges and fine structures (the texture of the straps, buckles, lightening holes) that casting cannot reach. A bonus: minimal cleanup, as the part sits on thin supports and there is no massive casting block to cut off.
Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene; use super glue (cyanoacrylate) or epoxy. Before painting, wash the part and apply a primer. Resin dust is harmful, so do any sanding wet and do not breathe the dust. Paint the belts differently from the shell of the seat and pick them out with a fine wash; the three-dimensional drape will then come out, and that is the main effect the set is bought for.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The aircraft model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
