This resin set from Aires in 1:48 scale refines the wheel bays, the main landing gear compartment, of the American North American P-51B/C Mustang fighter. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail accessory that replaces the simplified bays of a base kit with faithfully made resin parts with cast structure. The set is intended for more experienced modelers.
The North American P-51 Mustang was an American fighter of the Second World War which, thanks to its long range, became famous as an escort for bombers over Europe. The early P-51B/C versions had a framed canopy and were powered by a license-built Merlin engine. The main landing gear bays in the wing hid a rich structure of ribs, piping and mechanisms, which this set renders.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The bays come into their own once the base shade is painted, the structure picked out and gentle grime added. Check that they seat in the base kit before closing the wing.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not the airplane model itself. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
