This is a resin wheels set from Eduard, intended to replace the plastic wheels on models of the American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale. The set brings main wheels with a realistic block tread pattern and as a rule the tail wheel as well. The castings have a crisp rendering of the tire and the hub and a faithfully suggested weighting of the tire.
The North American P-51D Mustang was one of the most successful fighters of the Second World War. Thanks to its Packard Merlin engine and long range it escorted bombers deep over enemy territory. The P-51D-5 version was among the earlier D models. The wheels and tires with their characteristic tread are a clearly visible detail on a model.
First wash the castings free of the remains of the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks carefully and clean them up. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). It is practical to paint the tire and the hub separately, and the tread and the lettering come out after a light weathering.
This is an accessory set of resin wheels, not an airplane model. The base kit and the paints are not included in the package.
