Responsibility details are not available.
A set of resin wheels from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the P-51D-5 Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale. This is not a kit of an aircraft but an add-on. The wheels carry a tread with a cross pattern of the kind commonly used on Mustangs and replace the kit wheels molded in two halves — the unsightly mold seam across the tread thus falls away and the detail of both the hubs and the tires is noticeably sharper.
The North American P-51D Mustang was among the most important American fighters of the Second World War; the D-5 block was one of the first with a bubble canopy. The main landing gear retracted into the wing and the tires differed from machine to machine in their tread pattern depending on the supplier — the cross pattern is one of the typical variants that can be seen in period photographs.
Separate the wheels from the casting block with a razor saw and carefully sand the contact face; do not breathe in resin dust. Wash the parts free of mold release agent before painting. Paint the hubs and the tires separately in layers, and precise masking will make the transition easier. Bond them with super glue and bring the finished wheels to life with a fine wash and dusting with pigments to match the look of field airstrips.
This is an add-on for modelers — the kit the set is made for and the glue are not included in the package.
