This is not a kit, but a decal sheet in 1:48 scale on its own. The set is devoted to the light high-wing Piper in the military L-4H and NE-1 versions in the service of the US Army Air Forces and the Royal Australian Air Force. The sheet is applied to a plastic kit of the matching type and scale, which has to be obtained separately.
The military Piper came out of a civilian light high-wing monoplane and in the army it served for observation, artillery spotting, liaison flights and training. The L-4H version was the army one, and the designation NE-1 was carried by the equivalent naval variant. The small aircraft with its fabric covering, simple engine and large glazed areas of the cabin flew from improvised strips and was able to land practically anywhere. For a modeler it is a rewarding and undemanding subject with prominent, often colorful markings.
Apply the decals onto a smooth gloss varnish, otherwise silvering will appear under the film. Cut close to the printing and dip them in water only briefly. On fabric covering it pays to use a decal softener, so that the film follows the ribs and the fabric, and to apply it carefully in a thin layer. Once dry, spray the model with a matte varnish — fabric surfaces look natural in exactly that matte finish. Mask the cabin glazing while you are still spraying the varnish, so that the decals are applied onto a clean surface.
The package holds decals only. A kit, paints and varnishes are not included.
