A colored photo-etched instrument panel in 1:48 scale for the cockpit of the Polikarpov Po-2 (U-2) type. It is a finished detail accessory, not an aircraft model: the part is in fine metal etch, factory-painted and provided with faithful dials and instrument labels. It comes in a self-adhesive version, so it is placed straight into the pilot's compartment without any spraying or hand painting.
The Polikarpov Po-2, designated U-2 until 1944, was a Soviet multi-purpose biplane of mixed wood and fabric construction. It became famous as a light night bomber (LNB) – the slow, quiet aircraft harassed the enemy with night raids and earned a nickname from their crews. It also served as a trainer, a liaison and an ambulance machine and is among the most widely built aircraft in history.
Cut or sand the original instrument panel from the kit down flat, so that the photo-etched part seats. Peel the backing film off and press the panel into place; on larger parts a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. For maximum depth the dials can be dropped with clear resin or gloss varnish, which imitates the glass of the gauges. Work with the fine etch using tweezers and clean fingers.
This is a detail accessory for a cockpit, not a complete model. The base kit and paints are not included in the package.
