Aires 1:48 RA-5C Vigilante exhaust nozzles, late is a pair of resin exhaust nozzles of the late treatment for a model of the RA-5C carrier-based reconnaissance aircraft. It is not a kit but a detailing accessory.

A resin detailing set in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Aires. It replaces the simplified plastic exhaust nozzles with castings that have a well-drawn interior and thin edges. The set is not a model of the aircraft, but an accessory to a plastic kit of the RA-5C Vigilante. The designation of the late treatment means that the shape of the nozzles matches the later form of the machine, not the original one.
Why change the nozzles
In a kit the exhaust nozzles tend to be made up of two halves with a thick wall and a parting line inside the duct. A resin casting is as a rule in one piece, has a thin wall and an inner structure, so on the finished model it looks more faithful, especially in the view from behind.
The North American RA-5C Vigilante was a carrier-based reconnaissance aircraft of the US Navy, derived from the supersonic carrier-based A-5 bomber. It was powered by two General Electric J79 engines and, in its size as well as its speed, the machine was among the most striking carrier-based aircraft of its day. The reconnaissance equipment was housed in a container under the fuselage.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water, otherwise mold release agent will stay on the surface and the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the surface with a file and sanding paper wet, always with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue, that is, with cyanoacrylate. Apply a primer before painting. Nozzles take metallic shades well, which should be applied on a smooth base. Apply the metallic paint last; it is harder to overspray and to mask. Grade the heat staining toward the mouth and bring it out with a light wash, so that the inner structure stands out.
This is a detailing accessory, not a kit of the aircraft. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
