The Royal Air Force marks the round anniversaries of its flights and units with special finishes: a machine is given supplementary markings, bands or an all-over scheme for the occasion, which is painted over again after the season. It is to just such finishes from 2011 and 2012 that this decal sheet is devoted. It is intended for models in 1:48 scale and adds the decoration that kits mostly do not contain.
It will be appreciated by the builder who wants a documented particular period in a model, and by the collector of British subjects, for whom anniversary machines show well in a display case. The sheet is an accessory for a kit, which the modeler takes care of himself.
Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions that it is not a self-adhesive form; a self-adhesive film that has been soaked is ruined, whereas an unsoaked waterslide decal can be soaked later. With the usual waterslide form, proceed as follows: spray the area under the decal with gloss varnish, cut the motif out together with its margin, put it in lukewarm water and after a moment slide it off the backing paper onto the dampened place. Settle it, blot the water away and use a softener on the riveting and the panel lines. Once dry, clear-coat the area.
A decal sheet alone is what is supplied. The model, paints, varnishes and softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
