A set of waterslide decals by the British maker Xtradecal in 1:48 scale. It offers several color schemes for models of the American high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft of the Lockheed TR-1A/B and U-2R families. It is intended for the plastic kits of these types available in that scale.
The Lockheed U-2 and its later TR-1 variant are among the best known strategic high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft. The glider-like design with long wings allows it to operate at extreme altitudes. The TR-1A/B was the version intended for tactical reconnaissance, used among other places from British bases. The aircraft carried mostly dark, low-reflectance finishes set off by prominent national and unit markings, which is what the set concentrates on.
Apply the decals over a smooth gloss varnish, so that no matte edge forms around the designs. Soak the item briefly, move it into place, blot the water away and settle it with a decal softener so that it beds down onto the engraving as well. Once dry, seal it with a varnish of the sheen you want.
This is a stand-alone set of decals, not a kit. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
