1:48 Rockwell B-1B Lancer rear Bomb bay is an accessory set of the rear bomb bay for a model of the American strategic bomber. A model of the aircraft is not included.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set for a modeler who wants an open bay on a large bomber. The rear bomb bay on this type is roomy and once the doors are open it becomes the most striking detail of the whole underside of the fuselage. The item is an accessory to a model under construction, and the aircraft is not in it.
The Lancer is a supersonic strategic bomber with a variable-geometry wing that opens out in the subsonic regime for the sake of range and is drawn in toward the fuselage during a fast run. Version B was created after the original program was stopped as a machine optimized for penetration at low altitude, with a lower radar signature and without the ability to fly at high supersonic speeds. It carries its armament in three internal bays in the fuselage, which gives it exceptional load capacity without an increase in drag. It is exactly the division and the fittings of those bays that are among the most complex parts of the whole airframe, and on a model it is the place where the final impression is decided.
Finish and paint the bay before you close the halves of the fuselage, because afterwards you will not get into it. Keep the inside of the bay lighter, so that in the depth it does not darken into an indeterminate black, and put the shadows into the corners only at the end with a thin shade. Test-fit the doors of the bay dry, while no glue has touched the fuselage.
