A resin set of external stores in 1:48 scale: British unguided RP-3 rockets with a warhead of 60 pounds, prepared for a model of the Hawker Tempest Mk.II fighter. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory with which you replace the coarse plastic rockets from the box or add to a model the armament that the kit does not have at all. It is made by the Czech brand Eduard from Obrnice near Most within its Brassin resin line.
The RP-3 was a British unguided aircraft rocket of the Second World War with a body three inches in diameter, used in several renderings according to the type of warhead. The version with a heavy warhead of about 60 pounds was intended against ground and shipping targets; the rockets were fired from rails and were usually launched in salvoes, because the accuracy of a single round was low. A whole range of British attack and fighter aircraft carried them, the Tempest among them.
Wash the parts in warm water with a drop of detergent - without that neither glue nor paint will take on resin. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the faces wet, always with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue. It is more practical to paint the rockets while still on the casting block and to hang them under the wing right at the end of the build, so that they do not get in the way while the model is handled. Mind the symmetry: the rockets under both wing halves have to be at the same angle, otherwise the model looks unnatural. Before hanging them, check that your model has the matching mounts.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
