A resin detail part in 1:48 scale from Aires, the Quickboost range. This is not an airplane model but a replacement air intake for a model of the Swedish SAAB J 21 fighter. The resin rendering sharpens up the shape and the inner walls of the intake, which on plastic parts tend to be shallow or simplified.
The SAAB J 21 was a Swedish fighter of the period of the Second World War with an unusual layout, with a pusher propeller and a pair of tail booms. That solution put the emphasis on getting the air to the engine properly. The air intake is therefore a prominent feature of the aircraft in both function and shape, and one that deserves detail on a model.
Wash the resin part free of release agent, cut off the casting block and sand it with respiratory protection. Glue it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). We recommend painting the inner walls of the intake before you glue it in, while they are easy to reach. Check the fit against the fuselage before fitting it and clean up the joints, so that the intake runs smoothly into the surface.
