Resin cannon barrels for the Swedish Saab J-29 Tunnan jet fighter in 1:48 scale from Quickboost (the range of simple resin parts by Aires). The finely cast barrels replace the simplified plastic kit parts and faithfully capture the shape of the gun muzzles in the nose. It is not an aircraft model but a small detailed replacement that sharpens an otherwise inconspicuous but clearly visible feature.
The Saab J-29 Tunnan was a Swedish jet fighter of the early 1950s. Its barrel-shaped, bulbous fuselage earned it the nickname Flygande tunnan, meaning the flying barrel. Despite its ungainly look it was a capable machine for its day, with a swept wing. Its armament consisted of 20 mm cannon mounted in the lower part of the nose, whose barrels are clearly visible on a finished model.
These are resin castings. Wash them in lukewarm water with detergent and rid them of any mold release agent, otherwise neither paint nor glue will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw away from the part and sand the surfaces. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with plastic cement. Protect your airways while sanding.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin set for more experienced modelers. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
