Photo-etched landing flaps Eduard SBD-3 flaps 1:48 for the American Dauntless carrier dive bomber. An accessory, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a photo-etched detail set from Eduard in 1:48 scale for a faithful rendering of the characteristic perforated flaps of the SBD-3 Dauntless dive bomber. It is neither a model nor a kit but an accessory that replaces the solid plastic flaps with fine perforated photo-etched parts, which can be shown in the lowered position. The exact contents follow the instructions in the package.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was an American carrier dive bomber of the Second World War, famous above all from the Battle of Midway. Its typical feature was the perforated flaps on the trailing edge of the wing, which also served as airbrakes during a dive. It is precisely their perforation that is hard to imitate in plastic, which is why it shows to advantage in photo-etch.
The flaps are cut away from the plastic as instructed and replaced with the photo-etched parts. These are cut from the fret, shaped and bonded with super glue. We recommend patience while stiffening and fitting them; the result is an open perforation that markedly brings the model to life.
This is a detailing accessory, not an aircraft model. The base kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
