Polymer clay Machine — a machine for rolling modeling compound

This is a modeling tool from the manufacturer Green Stuff World. The compound is placed between two rollers and drawn through them, so that a sheet of even thickness over its whole area arises. With a hand roller the same result is achieved only with difficulty: with a hand-rolled sheet the middle tends to be thicker than the edges and the surface carries the traces of finger pressure. The machine speeds this work up and, above all, repeats it with the same result.

Use

• Flat sheets of modeling compound for covers, tarpaulins, curtains and the cloth details of figures.
• An even base for subsequent texturing with stamps and texture rollers.
• Thin layers of compound for bases, terrain features and walking surfaces.
• Kneading and softening a stiff compound by drawing it between the rollers repeatedly.

With stickier two-part compounds an interleaving film or a light coat of a release agent works well, as otherwise the compound builds up on the rollers. Wipe the rollers down right after the work, as dried-on residues are far harder to remove. Do not wash the machine under running water.
