The accessory is not a kit of the aircraft — it is underwing equipment you add to a finished model yourself. What matters is the distinguishing detail in the designation itself: it is the tank of the first type without fins. The same line also offers the version with fins, so when ordering, watch exactly this detail — the shape of the tail of the tank is the only thing the two items differ in.
Drop tanks are among the most conspicuous features of an aircraft's silhouette and at the same time among those that changed most often between individual machines and periods. Against injection-molded plastic a resin casting has two advantages: it usually comes in fewer parts, so the lengthwise joint running exactly across the most exposed place falls away, and the surface is smoother and holds gloss better, which comes in useful on metal tanks. The accessory also suits the case where the version being built differs from the one the base kit offers.
First wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent, so that it is rid of mold release agent from the mold. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw, never with nippers — resin breaks under side pressure. Sand the cut surface back wet and check the fit to the pylon dry; rather even small irregularities out by sanding the base than by pressure while gluing. It glues with super glue based on cyanoacrylate, as classic cement for polystyrene will not dissolve resin. Lay a thin primer on before spraying, otherwise the paint holds badly on the smooth surface. Protect your airways while sanding, as resin dust is very fine.
