A narrowly focused accessory set, not a kit. It replaces the grilles over the engine compartment of the German eight-wheeled Sd.Kfz.234/2 Puma armored car in 1:48 scale and is cut for the Italeri plastic kit. Plastic parts tend to have the mesh merely suggested by engraving or by a pressing, because genuinely cut-through louvers cannot be produced by injection molding. A photo-etched grille, by contrast, really is open: you can see through it into the shadow under the cover, and it is precisely this difference that even a layman notices on a finished model. For a small amount of work it is one of the most clearly visible modifications there is.
The upper surface of the hull of the Sd.Kfz.234 series vehicles was closed by engine compartment covers with cooling outlets, which were among the most conspicuous items of the silhouette from above. The 234/2 Puma version carried an enclosed rotating turret with a 50 mm gun and served with reconnaissance units in the second half of the Second World War.
First cut the original plastic relief of the grille away and sand the area smooth, or the new part will not sit down. It pays to glue a thin sheet painted black under the opening, which imitates the depth of the engine compartment. Glue the grille spot by spot around the edge with super glue, so that the glue does not get into the openings. A flooded grille loses the whole effect and is practically impossible to put right. Paint with thinned paint and an airbrush in light coats; a heavy coat floods the openings just as surely as glue does. At the end a dark wash and fine dust around the outlets will deepen the grille visually.
