This item is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory: a set of resin countermeasure dispensers, that is, chaff and flare dispensers, for the British SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a ground-attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. The set is designed for the Airfix kit and is made under the Quickboost brand of the Czech company Aires. The Jaguar kit has to be obtained separately.
Countermeasure dispensers are an element of passive defense: they fire chaff reflectors against radar-guided missiles and infrared flares against heat-seeking ones. On the real Jaguar this is an installation in which the individual cartridges and their housings are clearly visible. Injected plastic handles this structure only to a limited extent in 1:48 scale, whereas a resin casting can capture sharper edges, deeper openings and finer surface detail. The result is a more faithful rear fuselage without the laborious scraping and drilling of the plastic parts from the box.
For modelers who are building the Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a in 1:48 scale from the Airfix kit and want a more faithful installation of the countermeasure dispensers. Working with resin and the need for accurate seating of the parts make the set an accessory for more experienced modelers.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and is intended for a kit that is not included in the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Use respiratory protection when sanding resin.
