Sopwith Camel – Le Rhône engine 1:48 is a resin detail set from Eduard with a faithful replica of the Le Rhône rotary engine for models of the British Sopwith Camel fighter biplane.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set brings a detailed resin (and photo-etched) replica of the Le Rhône rotary engine for a model of the Sopwith Camel fighter biplane of the First World War. It replaces the simplified engine from the kit and raises the credibility of the exposed nose of the fuselage considerably. This is not the aircraft model itself.
The Sopwith Camel was one of the most successful British fighters of the First World War. A number of machines flew with the French Le Rhône rotary engine, in which the whole cylinder block turned together with the propeller. The open nose makes the engine a prominent visual feature of the model.
Wash the resin parts, cut the casting blocks away and clean them up with respiratory protection. Bend the photo-etched parts over a sharp edge and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. The engine comes into its own with metal shades, a dark wash in the recesses and gentle picking out of the cylinders and the valve gear.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
