About product

Sopwith Camel seat 1:48 (Eduard)

This is a resin accessory set from the Brassin range, not an aircraft kit. It brings a faithfully rendered pilot's seat for models of the British Sopwith Camel fighter biplane in 1:48 scale and replaces the simpler plastic part with a finer casting.

The real subject

The Sopwith Camel was one of the most successful fighters of the First World War, famous for its agility and for the tricky handling that came from the concentration of mass in the forward fuselage. In the open cockpit the seat is markedly in plain sight, so a more faithful rendering of it raises the level of the whole model.

Tips for working it

Wash the resin part to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting block and clean it up. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Pick out the seat and its padding or belts with paint and a fine wash. Protect your airways when sanding resin.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers of the Sopwith Camel in 1:48 scale
  • More experienced builders working with resin
  • Anyone after a faithful open cockpit of a First World War biplane

The accessory is supplied unpainted and meant for further work. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.

FAQ

No, it is a resin accessory, specifically a pilot's seat. You need the base Sopwith Camel kit in 1:48 separately.

Resin. It is bonded with super glue after washing off the mold release residue and cleaning it up.

In the open cockpit of a biplane the seat is markedly visible, and a more faithful casting raises the overall impression the model makes.
