An injection-molded plastic kit of the British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is the ProfiPACK edition, which adds color photo-etched parts (above all for the cockpit and the harnesses), self-adhesive painting masks for the glazing and a rich decal sheet with several marking options to the quality plastic. The combination of plastic, photo-etch and masks makes it possible to build a detailed model straight from the box without buying additional accessories.
The Spitfire belongs among the most famous fighters of the Second World War and its silhouette with the elliptical wing is instantly recognizable. The Mk.VIII version came about as a full airframe for the Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series engine with a two-stage supercharger - it had a strengthened airframe, a retractable tail wheel and excellent performance at medium and high altitudes. It was used above all in Italy, in the Middle and Far East and in Burma.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Apply the color photo-etch for the cockpit before you close the fuselage and mask the glazing with the enclosed masks. Lay a primer and the colors with an airbrush, transfer the decals over a gloss varnish and bring out the panel lines with a wash. For Spitfires it is typical to bring out the elliptical wing and to add fine weathering matching the given theater.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
