About product

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia - 1:48, Eduard ProfiPACK

An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. The ProfiPACK edition brings a richly equipped package: good plastic, photo-etched parts (some printed in color), self-adhesive masking templates and decals for several color schemes from the period of the Battle of Britain.

The real subject

The Spitfire was the iconic British single-seat fighter aircraft of the Second World War, famous for its elegant elliptical wing and excellent agility. The Mk.Ia version was an early production variant with eight machine guns in the wings, and in 1940, together with the Hurricanes, it formed the backbone of the fighter defense of Britain. It was powered by a V12 Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, and the aircraft became a symbol of victory in the Battle of Britain.

Building and painting tips

Paint the cockpit and fit it with the colored photo-etch before you close the fuselage up. The enclosed masks sharpen the painting of the glazing and the leading edges. Glue the thin photo-etched parts with super glue. Lay the British camouflage on with an airbrush, pick out the panel lines with a fine wash and bring the surfaces to life with discreet dusting and paint scuffs.

Who the model is for

  • for fans of the RAF and the Battle of Britain
  • for modelers who will appreciate the ProfiPACK outfit
  • for collectors of British fighters in 1:48 scale

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
