About product

Cockpit Door for the Spitfire Mk.IX, 1:48 Scale (Quickboost)

A precisely cast resin entry cockpit door for the British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX in 1:48 scale. It is an aftermarket detail part that replaces the simplified plastic part from the base kit and lets you display the door in the open position — not a standalone aircraft model.

The real subject

The Supermarine Spitfire was a British single-engine fighter of the Second World War with a characteristic elliptical wing. The Mk.IX version, powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, was one of the most widely used and successful variants. The hinged door on the left side of the fuselage helped the pilot climb into the cockpit.

Tips for use and fitting

Resin parts require more careful work than plastic: first wash them to remove residue from the mold release agent, carefully separate them from the casting block, and glue with cyanoacrylate (super glue). Protect your airways when sanding and cutting small parts. Apply a primer before painting. The door lets you display an open cockpit, so it is worth giving attention to its inner side and the interior color too.

Who the part is for

  • Modelers building the Spitfire Mk.IX in 1:48 scale
  • Anyone interested in displaying an open cockpit
  • Builders who want a more accurate entry door detail
  • Collectors of British aircraft from the Second World War

The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No. It is a resin detail part, that is, an aftermarket accessory. The base kit must be purchased separately.

The part is shaped for the British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX in 1:48 scale. We recommend testing the fit against your specific kit dry first, since manufacturers' offerings vary.

Wash it to remove the mold release agent, separate it from the casting block, and glue it with cyanoacrylate. Use respiratory protection when sanding. The work is somewhat more demanding than with plastic.
