A set from the LööK range is a cockpit accessory, not an aircraft kit. It contains a resin instrument panel with printed dial faces and photo-etched steel seat belts, likewise pre-colored. The parts are ready for immediate use, so the laborious hand painting of instruments and belts falls away. The set is cut for the kit of the late Spitfire Mk.IX in 1:48 scale and deals with the most conspicuous spot, the one everybody looks at who examines a finished model close up.
A resin instrument panel has sharper relief than injection-molded plastic and the dials are printed, not merely suggested by engraving. Photo-etched steel seat belts can be shaped and hold a bend, so they can be draped faithfully over the seat and left hanging loose. That ability to be shaped is the main reason steel belts look more realistic than plastic or paper substitutes.
Wash the resin part in lukewarm water with detergent before gluing to remove residue of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc, never break it off. Glue both the resin and the photo-etched parts with super glue, ideally a gel one, which gives you time to settle the part. Bend the steel belts over the edge of a metal ruler or in a photo-etch bending tool and shape the buckles with tweezers. Protect the printed color from thinners and apply any matte varnish in a thin coat only.
This is an accessory set, not an aircraft model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
