Film for the outer frames of the glazing, a pair of sheets for the roundels, a resin propeller and metal cannon ends for the Spitfire Mk Vb of the Polish squadrons in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
After the fall of France, Polish airmen formed one of the most numerous foreign groups in the Royal Air Force and their squadrons flew the Mk V throughout 1941 and beyond. Beside the British roundel their machines carried a small red and white chequerboard on the nose and often a squadron badge as well, so the finish is considerably richer for a modeler than on an ordinary British version. That is precisely why with this item it pays to think out in advance what is sprayed and what is applied.
The glazing of the Mk V is in three parts and divided into the windscreen frame, the sliding center section and the fixed rear part. The film supplied covers the framing from outside. The fixed rear part has its inner side practically inaccessible, so outer masking makes sense on it in itself, whereas on the windscreen frame the inner edge is clearly visible with the cockpit open and is worth covering by hand. The set also contains a resin propeller, which is an unusual addition in this family.
Wash the resin propeller with warm water and detergent before gluing, because mold release agent clings to the surface and paint will not hold on it. The blades are carefully straightened in hot water and keep their shape once cooled. The metal cannon muzzles are fitted at the end, after all the film is removed, because they project the farthest of all the parts of the model and there is a risk of them bending at every further step.
