The set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard holds a pair of cast resin main landing gear wheels for Spitfire models in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of an airplane but an aftermarket detail accessory replacing the plastic wheels from the original kit. The wheel has a five-spoke hub and a smooth tire, answering to one of the period types of tread. Each wheel is made up of a rim with an inner hub and a separate outer hub.
The resin casting captures the fine details of the hub and the sidewall more faithfully than injection-molded plastic. The split rendering of the hub makes clean painting easier and the set allows a realistic flattening of the tire where it sits on the ground to be suggested. The parts are conceived as a direct replacement for the original wheel from the kit.
Wash the parts clean of the mold release agent in lukewarm water with detergent. Cut the casting blocks off and sand the surfaces with protection of the airways. Glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the hub and the tire separately and use the enclosed templates for masking, if they are part of the package.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin detail set. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
