This set of color 3D decals from Quinta Studio replaces flat cockpit parts with raised, pre-colored detail printed on backing decal paper. It usually includes the instrument panels, the side panels and the seat belts. It is neither etch nor resin, but decals transferred with water. The set is intended for Stearman PT-17 Kaydet models in 1:48 scale.
The Boeing Stearman PT-17 Kaydet was an American training biplane with open cockpits and a radial engine. It served for the basic flying training of thousands of pilots; its simple, rugged design made it one of the best-known school aircraft of its era.
Cut the part out of the sheet and immerse it in lukewarm water for about 15 seconds, then slide it off the backing paper into place with tweezers. The part has no adhesive layer of its own and holds on a gloss coat, so paint the interior first and give it a gloss clear coat (Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22). Press it carefully into complex detail with a cotton swab; elsewhere a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as their chemistry attacks the printed resin of the part. The whole can be evened out at the end with a suitable clear coat.
This is an accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
