Hauler 1:48 StuG III Ausf. B is a photo-etched detail set for the plastic kit of the assault gun given in the name of the product. It brings metal parts in a thickness injection-molded plastic cannot manage.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a modeler who already has the base Tamiya plastic kit. Photo-etched metal is a thin metal sheet with the detail etched into it and the lines of the bends marked. It is used on the parts that in reality should be of sheet metal: covers, platforms, brackets, hinges and small fittings. On an angular machine defined by flat surfaces, such as the StuG III, the effect is apparent at once, because it is precisely the edges that are judged.
The StuG III Ausf. B was an early production version of the German assault gun built on the chassis of the Panzer III tank. It was a turretless vehicle with a short-barreled 75 mm gun mounted in the front wall of the superstructure. The design without a turret lowered the silhouette and simplified manufacture, at the price of limited traverse, which was made up for by turning the whole vehicle. The machine was assigned to direct fire support of the infantry.
Glue the photo-etched parts on at the moment when the model is still reachable from every side. Most modelers finish the metal parts before spraying, because degreasing is difficult once the paint is on. Run the bends along the etched grooves and finish sharp edges off by laying the flat jaw of tweezers against them. Once done, degrease the metal and use a base coat, ideally sprayed, because a brush leaves marks on smooth metal. Matte paint behaves differently on photo-etched metal than on plastic, so count on thinner coats. A dry brush on the edges will bring out the work you have put into the parts.
This is a supplementary set, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
