A resin detail set from the Czech company Aires in 1:48 scale. It contains faithfully rendered countermeasure dispensers, that is, for chaff and infrared flares, in the fully loaded form as carried by the Su-17 and the export Su-22 in the M3 and M4 Fitter K versions. It is not an aircraft model, but an accessory for making one more accurate.
The Su-17 was a Soviet fighter-bomber with a variable-geometry wing, developed from the Su-7. The export version carried the designation Su-22. The M3 and M4 variants were among the later and most widespread forms. Countermeasure dispensers served to break the guidance of enemy missiles: chaff confuses radar, flares draw off infrared-guided rounds.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue. The loads in the dispensers come out once carefully painted and lightly picked out.
This is a resin accessory, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
