An accessory set of resin exhaust nozzles for a model of the Su-27 fighter in 1:48 from the Czech manufacturer Aires. This is not a model of an airplane but a detail set with which the simplified nozzles from a plastic kit are replaced. The castings have thin edges, an inner structure and the division of the outer plates that cannot be molded in injected plastic, so the rear end of the model gains depth at once and looks believable even when seen from behind.
The rear end of a twin-engine fighter is one of the most exposed places on a model: everyone who walks around the model looks at it, and simplified plastic nozzles with thick walls give a kit away at first glance. A resin replacement solves the thickness of the edge, the inner surfaces and the typical look of heat-stressed metal, which can then be finished with burnt shades.
First wash the parts in warm water with detergent to remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the surface on wet abrasive paper; work with your airways protected. The nozzles are glued with super glue, and before gluing it is advisable to dry-fit them and if need be adjust the diameter of the seating in the fuselage. In terms of color, a metal base works well, with thin layers of burnt shades over it from the root toward the mouth of the nozzle and finally a dark wash and a fine sooty dusting. Darken the inside of the nozzle so that it cannot be looked into like an empty bowl.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
