An accessory set from the Quickboost line made by the Czech producer Aires. It is not a model of the aircraft but a replacement for the fender above the nosewheel in the shape matching later production aircraft. The casting has a thinner edge and a more accurate shape than the plastic part from a kit, on which a parting seam is usually visible. Because the fender is visible on a finished model from the front and from below, replacing it is among the quick changes with an immediately noticeable result.
The Sukhoi Su-27, NATO code name Flanker, is a Soviet heavy twin-engine air superiority fighter with long range. Its air intakes are placed low under the fuselage, so there is a risk of small objects from the runway being drawn in while taxiing; the fender above the nosewheel therefore deflects the stream of flying material and protects the engines. The shape of this cover on later production batches and on upgraded aircraft differed from the original form, so it is a detail by which a particular machine can be placed in time.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and even the surface with abrasive paper used wet, with respiratory protection. Remove the original plastic part and even the seating surface on the landing gear leg out carefully, so that the fender stands straight. It is glued with super glue applied on the tip of a wire. Start the painting with a primer, then the light shade of the landing gear; a dark wash and light dust soiling of the lower edge will give the part a realistic look.
This is an accessory set, not a complete model. It is supplied unpainted and unassembled; the paints, the glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
