This resin detail set of the Brassin range from Eduard offers replacement landing gear wheels for models of the Soviet and Russian Sukhoi Su-27 fighter in 1:48 scale. The wheels have finely rendered tread, hub detail and suggested loading of the tire. It is an accessory, not a standalone model.
Resin wheels tend to be crisper and more three-dimensional than the plastic parts from the kit, and they look realistic thanks to the way the tire settles under the weight of the aircraft. That gives a model standing on the ground a convincing feel. The Su-27 is a heavy twin-engine machine on which the robust main landing gear wheels come into their own.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts and cut them from the casting blocks. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and sand with respiratory protection. The tires benefit from a matte rubber color with a dusty cast, the hubs from a metallic or light shade and a light wash. Using a mask makes a clean transition between hub and tire easier.
