A set of three-dimensional (3D) decals for the interior of the two-seat aircraft in 1:48 scale. The elements are printed and in color from the factory, they carry raised relief of the controls and the display bezels and they are laid on decal paper directly onto the cockpit parts from the kit. In 1:48 scale you thereby solve detail that is very hard indeed to paint with a brush. The name lists the set as the smaller variant, so it covers a narrower selection of surfaces than the full version. The set is cut for the GWH kit.
The Su-30SM is a two-seat multirole combat aircraft from the family derived from the Su-27. The crew sits one behind the other and both cockpits are equipped with their own set of displays, so the interior differs from the single-seat machines of the same family. A model with the canopy slid back therefore almost always calls for more work on the cockpit than the single-seat version.
Three-dimensional decals differ from classic wet decals, but they do need water: the part is immersed in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slid off the decal backing paper. It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds on gloss varnish, so go over the base with gloss varnish. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution at all, as their chemicals would damage the printed resin layer. Stick to the instructions enclosed with the set. Keep the base degreased and perfectly dry, lay the parts down with tweezers and check the fit dry. On a tandem cockpit, plan the order of the work in advance, so that you do not touch the finished front section while fitting the rear one. Finally, unify the surface with a light matting.
This is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory set for the interior. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
