The angular pattern of the Russian fighter is what 1:48 Su-35 Flanker-E Splinter Camouflage Paint Masks contains. Two sheets of pre-cut stencils cover the whole angular camouflage scheme.

Two sheets of pre-cut masks cover the splinter scheme carried by one of the best known machines of the Su-35 type in the Flanker-E version. The shapes are prepared for the areas of the fuselage, the wings, the tail surfaces and the engine nacelles, and the semi-translucent material allows them to be lined up precisely against the panel lines. The individual sheets are divided according to the parts of the airframe.
Splinter is camouflage made up of straight edges and sharp angles, that is the very opposite of soft rounded patches. The sharp transitions are to disturb the perception of the shape of a machine and make judging its attitude harder. On modern heavy fighters the scheme looks very striking, but it is hard to draw by hand, and that is exactly why pre-cut stencils came about. Similar schemes are carried by other machines of the Flanker family as well, but always in a different layout of the areas.
Work from the lightest shade to the darker ones, so that any show-through does not matter. Let each layer cure, otherwise the tape will tear an edge away during removal. On long straight stretches lay the mask down from the center toward the edges, so that it does not wrinkle. Spray perpendicularly and with thinned paint; a thick application creates a step at the edge, which is visible in this scale. Count on the whole pattern taking several evenings; putting all the shapes on at once cannot be done, because the colors overlap.
