An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet fighter-bomber Sukhoi Su-17/22M3 in 1:48 scale from Smer. The model comes from a proven Czech tooling and captures the M3 version with its variable-geometry wing, that is with swing outer panels. The Sukhoi Su-17 (Su-22 in export form) was a Soviet fighter-bomber and ground-attack aircraft with movable outer wing panels, which improved its takeoff and landing qualities as well as its behavior in different flight regimes. It was developed from the Su-7 fighter and, in the M series versions, it served from the 1970s with the Soviet Air Force and with many friendly countries including Czechoslovakia. It carried a wide range of unguided as well as guided armament.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic, and fill and sand the seams. Paint the cockpit and the landing gear bays before closing the fuselage. The model allows the wing to be assembled at different sweep angles - think the position out in advance. Soviet as well as export camouflage schemes are typical; after the gloss varnish and the decals, pick out the panel lines with a wash and add wear with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
