The Sukhoi Su-2 is a Soviet two-seat aircraft of the beginning of the Second World War, used as a light bomber and a reconnaissance machine. The crew consisted of a pilot and a gunner, who sat behind him. The glazing over the cockpit is extensive, so on a finished model both the forward station and the rear position are visible and it pays to equip the interior.
The set is a color three-dimensional cockpit interior in 1:48 scale. The elements are printed on a decal backing paper and are applied as a wet decal: you cut the part out, dip it for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slide it off the paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own, so it needs a surface covered with a gloss varnish. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer. The extent of the elements and their placement are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Spray the surfaces the elements will go onto beforehand, let them dry properly and cover them with a gloss varnish, for example Future or Tamiya X-22; the surface should be smooth and free of sanding dust. Bring the soaked element to its place with tweezers and press it down with a soft stick from the middle outward. It takes a slight curve, but do not force it into a sharp edge; on a busy surface help it with a small drop of cyanoacrylate glue. On older machines with a busy interior it pays to work from the back forward, so that you do not smear finished work with your hand.
The set is for builders who want to equip a cockpit without hand-painting the small instruments, and especially for models with open glazing. The package contains the interior set only, unless stated otherwise; the model, paints and glue are not included.
