A resin accessory set for a model in 1:48 scale. The wheels are cast in one piece and replace the split plastic parts from the kit. The form matches the late machines, on which the landing gear wheels differ from the earlier series. The set contains no other part of the model.
The Su-24 is a twin-engined two-seat combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, brought into service in the 1970s. The crew sit side by side, which is an unusual solution for an aircraft of this category. The machine is among the heavier types in its class and its landing gear is therefore sturdy, with generously sized wheels. Several forms appeared during production, and the wheels from the later series differ from the older ones, which a modeler will notice when comparing photographs of a particular machine.
On a large, heavy aircraft the wheels matter visually, and a plastic part split into two halves brings with it a seam right across the tread. Filling it without damaging the tread pattern is tedious. A resin casting solves the problem by having no parting line at all, and the shape of the hub tends to be crisper as well.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water, otherwise mold release agent will remain on the surface and the paint will flake off. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and level the seating surface on sanding paper laid on the bench. Try the mounting dry before gluing, and protect your airways when sanding resin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate, not with plastic cement. Apply a primer before painting.
The set is an accessory for building a model, not a standalone model. It is supplied unpainted; paints and glue are not included in the package.
