This resin set from Quickboost, a brand of the Czech maker Aires, brings a faithfully cast in-flight refueling probe for a model of the French Dassault Super Étendard carrier strike aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a small detail accessory for more experienced modelers, replacing the thicker and easily broken plastic part with a delicate and crisp casting of the correct shape and tip.

The real subject

The Dassault Super Étendard was a French single-engine carrier strike aircraft, flown from the 1970s from the carriers of the French Navy. For range over the sea it was fitted with a fixed in-flight refueling probe. It became famous as a carrier of anti-ship missiles and was used by Argentine naval aviation as well.

Tips for working with resin

First wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut off the casting block carefully and sand the cut surface with respiratory protection. Bond the probe with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and fit it at the end of the build so that it does not break off.
