A combined set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale for a plastic model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I fighter. The LööK range is built on a simple principle: the instrument panel is cast in resin, already painted and with readable dials, and it is complemented by pre-painted seat belts in photo-etched steel. The modeler thus gets the most conspicuous elements of the cockpit ready-made, with no painting of tiny dials and no assembling of layered photo-etched parts. A model of the aircraft is not part of the package.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I was a British single-engine fighter of the late 1930s. Unlike older designs it was an all-metal stressed-skin low-wing aircraft with a thin elliptical wing, which brought low drag and room for both the armament and the landing gear. Power came from a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and the armament consisted of eight machine guns of 7.7 mm caliber. The cockpit of the first series was fairly cramped, and on a model with the canopy open the instrument panel is the dominant thing the eye lands on.
Cut the resin panel from the casting block with a saw or a cutter, and never snap it off. Sand the cut and wash the part in warm soapy water to remove any mold release agent, as otherwise the glue will not hold. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Protect the painted surface from overspray and from solvent-based paints. Shape the steel belts with tweezers so that they drape over the seat, and leave the buckles slightly turned. Before fitting, check that the plastic panel comes out of the model without damaging the cockpit frame.
The package holds the parts named and nothing else. The aircraft model, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
