Xtradecal 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I / Mk.II is a decal sheet in 1:48 scale with markings for the early versions of the British Spitfire fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals from the British manufacturer Xtradecal in 1:48 scale, focused on the early versions of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter, that is the Mk.I and the Mk.II. It is an accessory for a kit and not a model. Go by what the manufacturer gives on the packaging of the sheet and the instructions supplied.
The Spitfire was a British single-seat fighter of all-metal construction with its characteristic elliptical wing. The Mk.I version entered service with the Royal Air Force at the end of the 1930s with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and eight 7.7 mm machine guns in the wings. The Mk.II that followed differed chiefly in its stronger Merlin XII engine and was built at the large-scale factory at Castle Bromwich. Both versions are among the most frequently built subjects in British aviation.
Early Spitfires have a finely engraved surface, and a decal across an engraved line or a panel seam is a typical place where a silvered border forms. Once the marking is settled, lay a decal softener on and let the film soften; it will drop into the engraving by itself and the line under it will stay legible. On more pronounced changes of shape it helps, once it is dry, to run the tip of a scalpel lightly along the engraving and repeat the softener. Only then come the varnish and any weathering.
This is a modeling accessory, a decal sheet. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
