Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I TFace in 1:48 scale is a set of self-adhesive masking templates from Eduard. The TFace designation means that the masks cover the glazing from the outer and from the inner side.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is not a model or decals but a masking set, and it differs from ordinary masks in one substantial thing. The TFace designation at Eduard means that the sheet holds masks not only for the outer side of the glazing but for the inner side as well. That solves a problem familiar to everyone who has painted cockpit frames from the outside only: looking into the cockpit, the exterior camouflage color shows through from within, whereas on the real aircraft the frame is in the interior shade from within. With a double-sided set you spray both and the cockpit looks right when you look inside.
Fit the inner masks first, spray the glazing in the interior shade and let it dry. Only then do the outer masks come into play, the part is seated on the model and the exterior scheme is sprayed. The order is not arbitrary: the other way round, the inner masks would be stuck to fresh exterior paint. Both sets hold best on a degreased and dry surface, and the edge should always be pressed down along its whole length. On the rounded canopy of a Spitfire the area is masked in sections and the rest is covered with masking fluid. Lift the masks shortly after the paint has dried, at a sharp angle.
The package holds masking templates only. The model, paints and glue are not part of it.
