A set of turned metal Hispano 20 mm cannon barrels in fairings for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb in 1:48 scale, supplemented by a resin fitting for precise seating. The set is adapted to the new Airfix kit tooling. The Polish manufacturer MASTER turns the barrels from metal, so they have faithful geometry and sharper detail than plastic parts.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V was among the most widespread versions of this British fighter of the Second World War. The Mk.Vb variant carried mixed armament in the b type wing with a pair of Hispano 20 mm cannons; their barrels projected from the leading edge in aerodynamic fairings and are among the characteristic details of the aircraft.
First wash the resin part to remove mold release residue and cut off the casting block. Replace the plastic barrels from the kit with the metal ones, and bond the resin fitting as well as the barrels with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Take care that they are concentric, and protect your breathing when sanding resin. Move the fine parts with tweezers.
It is not an aircraft model but a metal accessory with a resin fitting. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
