1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVI Bubbletop in Polish service is a decal set from the brand Model Maker for models of the late Spitfire with a cut-down rear fuselage and a bubble canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of decals from the brand Model Maker in 1:48 scale carrying the markings of Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVI machines in Polish service, in the version with a low rear fuselage and a bubble canopy, known as the bubbletop. It is an accessory for a model already built; the set holds no plastic parts and is not a kit.
The Spitfire Mk.XVI was among the late versions of the British fighter. It differed from the Mk.IX above all in its Packard license-built Merlin engine, and some of the machines received a cut-down rear fuselage with a bubble canopy, which markedly improved the view to the rear. Polish airmen served with Royal Air Force squadrons, and the machines of their units carried their own codes and insignia.
Decals belong on a smooth, glossy surface, that is, on a gloss varnish applied over the painted model. Soak the cut-out motif in lukewarm water for a few seconds, let it stand for a moment, and as soon as it releases from the backing paper, slide it into place. Settling it over engraved lines and rivets is helped by a softener, which makes the decal supple and lets it bed down without bubbles. Finally seal everything with a varnish in the degree of sheen that matches the rest of the model, most often a matte one.
The package holds decals; it is not a kit. The model, the paints, the varnishes and the glue are not part of it.
